Edward, congratulations on the acquisition of the SL. I feel sure you will enjoy it, and I know we will enjoy seeing the results of your work with it.

That lens looks very good, Charlie.
Great 'atmosphere' Robert! Was it shot handheld? I would be lucky to get a sharp image with the 90 at 1/90. Or at least not as sharp as it could be at 1/360 or 1/500. Would have liked IBIS in the SL...
Congrats on the SL Edward! Your observations mirror my brief experience with it. The EVF is really good. Heard the rumor about a possible M-D coming? Apparently no rear LCD, but there's also speculation it might be EVF only... Personally, I'm not interested in a non-LCD digital camera, but if it was EVF only and allowed image review through the EVF, I would reconsider. There are situations where you just need to know you got the shot. Or a shot, to eliminate mechanical failure or other bugs that Leica never seems to entire shake..

Thank you Edward, Charlie and Ron, for the kind words.

Ron, the beach shot was hand-held, and yes, I was lucky to get a sharp image with the Cron 90 at 1/90. I remember my first outing with the lens, and coming back home to view the images in LR, and rejecting every one of them. But that was on the M. I seem to have much better success with the 90 mounted on the SL. The better grip helps, and I find that the size and weight of the SL, as compared to the M, also helps with stability. IBIS would have been an awesome feature when coupled with the great EVF on the SL.

I sometimes wonder why I hang onto the M(246), and then I pull it out of the cabinet, attach the APO Cron 50 2.0, and then I remember.

Many photos convert nicely to b/w, but I made it a point to try to find the best white balance in color since it's a new camera and I want to see what it does.

Edward - what is your impression of working with the files so far? Are you finding focusing to be quicker (and more precise) with the SL?

Interesting Edward. What I see is higher saturation than your normal work. The blues especially.

Gary, I normally use 4 sliders only, white balance/tint, exposure, contrast. Finding the right white balance was very tough due to the mixed light sources but I feel the M240 would have produced more natural colors in this instance. I also made it a point not to use magnification because I wanted to check focus accuracy and speed, so I did compose/focus simultaneously. I think I can focus more accurately with the M but this would involve focus/recompose. Knowing that my priority was speed, and the mostly moving subjects, I think the SL can be very good in this respect, especially with some training.

Charlie, saturation slider was on zero, so the SL profile must produce this color under this particular lighting. I hate to say it but it's almost identical to what I used to get with the A7.
