Charlie - congrats on the 75lux!
Robert - nice B&W's from Spruce Meadows. I was meaning to head over there for some pics but didn't find time. Instead we just took a drive through at night which was great. And yes, that pic was taken of City Hall...
Michael - nice SF set. There is such a abundance of material to shoot in that city...
AbramG - nice pics and looking forward to more from you.
Allen - awsome street work as usual! Beautiful processing of the last shot (first set) of the lady in the bar.
Adam - it has been a bit cold here lately and is -25C this morning. We have some friends from Brisbane visiting and they froze their a** off last night when we went tobogganing late yesterday.

Special thanks to Jeff Hulton, really wonderful seller. This lens has increased in value alot, despite the fact 15k were made over the years (contrast this to my Canon 85/1.5: under 1.5k made and I doubt 900 survive). Mine is early Canadian, but after the built in hood was added. Except of a few slight brassing marks on the focus ring it's LN. The cost was 3050, and while it's a lot of money, considering the copy condition, I'm very happy.

One thing which I'm getting used to is the long focus throw. I now far prefer the short throw ubiquitous to modern RF glass. Mandler, what were you thinking

burningheart - The things we do for our animals.
Gary - I don't miss the weather, but tobogganing's always fun!

Great images guys, I had good weather for shooting today, but didn't use the Leica Instead I played with the Contax645 (you can all see where this is going right?)

After 'lurking' for some years and being super impressed at some of the work by people here I've eventually saved up enough to get my M240 and 35mm f/2 Typical, as soon as I get the camera the weather goes foggy which can be interesting so took my daughter out to test things out so sorry for the less than amazing pics!

I'm holding on to my Nikon DF and primes but am selling off my D800e and zooms to help balance the books and contribute to a 50mm lens and am trying to decide on Zeiss f/2 or Leica f/2 or used 1.4 etc...

Anyway, it seems customary in many forums to post duck shots with new gear so I've included something as near to that as possible and hope to have some better work to post soon

Thanks guys for the likes on the fireworks photos! Lots of great images, as usual - Allen, Phil, Gary, Richard....

Werner, love these last couple.
Michael, you're putting on a great Leica S and M showcase! LOVE the S rendering in the images of your kids. The streetcar images have great layering and complexity. The first 50 Lux evening street scene shows why having a lens like this, that is sharp wide open at infinity is useful. Also love the contrasting warm and cool colors.
Charlie - congrats on the 75 Lux!

No pix to post at the moment. As for weather, it's looking kind of messy back home in Southern Ontario, so am delaying the drive home for a few more days... Holed out in Virginia Beach and enjoyed 24°C today, though will be back to winter reality tomorrow.

Any suggestions on ways to make the last one look "better". In that photo flames are very overpowering and tried my best to bring out rest of the details in the photo.

Don't remember which M you're using, but in this situation, you have to expose for the highlights. Once they're blown, there is no recovery. It will mean the overall scene is underexposed, but it can be opened up in post. The M9 is particularly good at this, which somewhat compensates for its poor highlight recovery.

We spend a fair amount of time on this forum obsessing over optics. I was quite surprised at how well these turned out, since they were shot through three low optical quality sheets of glass or plexi on my plane flight over the Rockies recently. It is difficult to undermine fine Leica glass, I guess. :-)

Thanks Gary! I got a new 35 cron which is really lovely, a little stiff to focus at the moment and will hopefully loosen up over time. Only problem so far is needing to get a diopter, using glasses to focus with isn't so good but it works

I love this from Puts:
"The Summilux-M 1.4/75mm is a true workhorse: you need the lens and then you use it or you do not need it and then you do not buy it. The lens has no glamour or myth attached to it and is not a collector's item. And when you need it, you use it indefinitely and that may be the reason why so few Summilux 75mm lenses are offered on the second hand market."

A little vinegar to my usual oily romance with glass As well it shows the rather dramatic evolution of the 75/1.4 from "workhorse" to "Mandler's Favorite" over the past 20 years, in the minds of many shooters, with a correspondingly dramatic price increase on the used market.
