Thank you Phil, Zhangyue for your kind words!

Nico, surreal images! Beautiful!

Zhangyue, 1, 2 and 3 are superb. Typically outstanding work.

Here's one shot from today, f/2:

Congrats on the family addition, Phil!
Fast Shadow - it's difficult not to like the 50 Lux ASPH. Keep 'em coming!

Happy belated New Year to everyone! Happened to be in NYC on the 31st... wandered by Times Square, but wasn't in the mood to be herded into a holding pen 12 hours before ball drop without in/out privileges, food or restroom facilities... So wandered through Central Park shorty before midnight and caught the fireworks there instead. It was a very enjoyable show. Didn't have a tripod along, so just a few shots with the M240 & 21 set down on a rock near the water and cropped for better framing (though wasn't able to tilt the camera up as much as I'd have liked).

One thing that bugged me about the M240 here was the automatic dark frame subtraction. Normally I like to do ~15 seconds for fireworks displays, but the dark frame subtraction would mean missing too much of the overall show, so did 8 seconds instead.

I just pressed the "Place Order" button on an M240, 50 Lux, and a spare battery.

I feel a little dizzy.

Been there done that.......not dizzy but a great sinking feeling as the thoughts of "what have I done" were running through my head!

Enjoy, the feeling will pass very soon!

I can relate to this feeling. I've bought Canon super-tele L lenses without hesitation or second thoughts. Even though I really love shooting Leica, there is something illogical to dropping similar coin on this gear that gives me momentary pause... But then I just use it and remember why I like it so much...

I normally do not like to take pics of the homeless for various reasons... but this moment really spoke to me.

Fast Shadow - The Leica M system isn't cheap, and it's not "cutting edge" but it sure is enjoyable for what it is. Once you get over the can's and cannot's of the system, and come to the realisation that spending big bucks doesn't equal a miracle camera.. You'll actually have great fun with it, and along the way you may produce beautiful images, or maybe not.. But if you love the idea of rangefinders, you're sure to have a lot of fun with it I dare say, enough enough fun to make up for the cost and initial shock.

Ron - nice fireworks.

nicoimages - neat, love the mountain!

zhangyue - nice, but I have to be honest, I was expecting more S shots

pandorf - lovely view!

Edward - neat, the TWG is new to BKK right?

Gary - Love the hit of the old church in the reflection of the new building.

jojomon11 - Congrats!

Happy New Year All,

First shot on the M240 for 2015. Hiked up Satta Pass to watch the sun set over Mt. Fuji.

Best!

Fast shadows, nice b/w shots. The homeless guy photo is very expressive.

Ron, beautiful fireworks. Too bad they're a bit chopped off from the top.

Adam, thank you. TWG isn't exactly new. It has been around for at least 3-4 years as far as I remember.

Ryan, fantastic shot!

Sequence of chef's working on a multiple meals/orders at the same time on NY eve!
Any suggestions on ways to make the last one look "better". In that photo flames are very overpowering and tried my best to bring out rest of the details in the photo.

I spent the afternoon at Tamarkin Photo checking out the M, M9 and the T. Didn't care for the T at all, the M240 was nice, but too spendy and was just ok with the lcd. The M9 I really liked: It felt good in my hands despite weighing about the same as my 5D. I did a pretty decent job focusing but shot at iso 1000 only (despite spending 3hrs there checking all kinds of stuff out. (great news about my R 90 APO being worth a lot to help pay for the new system, but this is most best lens I've ever had, but using an R on a M body is pretty useless I learned)

Here are a few practice pics/not great compositions
