Congrats on the family addition, Phil!
Fast Shadow - it's difficult not to like the 50 Lux ASPH. Keep 'em coming!
Happy belated New Year to everyone! Happened to be in NYC on the 31st... wandered by Times Square, but wasn't in the mood to be herded into a holding pen 12 hours before ball drop without in/out privileges, food or restroom facilities... So wandered through Central Park shorty before midnight and caught the fireworks there instead. It was a very enjoyable show. Didn't have a tripod along, so just a few shots with the M240 & 21 set down on a rock near the water and cropped for better framing (though wasn't able to tilt the camera up as much as I'd have liked).
One thing that bugged me about the M240 here was the automatic dark frame subtraction. Normally I like to do ~15 seconds for fireworks displays, but the dark frame subtraction would mean missing too much of the overall show, so did 8 seconds instead.

I just pressed the "Place Order" button on an M240, 50 Lux, and a spare battery.
I feel a little dizzy.

Been there done that.......not dizzy but a great sinking feeling as the thoughts of "what have I done" were running through my head!
Enjoy, the feeling will pass very soon!

I can relate to this feeling. I've bought Canon super-tele L lenses without hesitation or second thoughts. Even though I really love shooting Leica, there is something illogical to dropping similar coin on this gear that gives me momentary pause... But then I just use it and remember why I like it so much...
