How well do you see color on your computer's display?

This has been posted in the past but not recently so i thought old timers might like another crack at it and new board members can try it if they haven't before.

(BTW: I got a 4 when I took a few minutes ago. )

I just took it and scored a 0 (for those that have not taken the test it is scored from 0 to 99+) ... with the comment of Perfect Color Acuity. Results are below.

* Your score: 0
* Gender: Male
* Age range: 50-59
* Best score for your gender and age range: 0
* Highest score for your gender and age range: 1520

I attribute it to my NEC 2690, Spectraview II and my Eye-One PRO.

Zero is a perfect score, congratulations.

So which instrument do you use to Calibrate and Profile your NEC display: the Spectraview II colorimeter or the i1 Pro?

i1 Pro ... I purchased it as part of my i1 Photo SG kit. There is an option in Spectraview II that I do use ... it is something like average readings. It allows the i1 Pro to take multiple readings and average the results for a better final result.

When I go to my eye doctor, I always ask them for the "better" color acuity test, rather than the old "find the number hidden in the colored bubbles" test. The better test is very similar to this one, with colored wooden blocks. I've always scored perfect on that one, but I got a 12 here.

I calibrate/profile my Dell 2209WA with an I1D2.

I think my eyes stopping working. I didn't blink for about 5 minutes doing the test. Score: 10, on a windows auto-calibrated monitor I don't use for editing.

http://luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=44677&st=40

if you read through that thread it appears the answer would be either one (although one option is $600 less)

last year I got a 0 on my old samsung lcd (calibrated with CEDP using a DTP94b)

now i have a nec pa241w and i'm too afraid to take the test again on it
(dude buys $1000 monitor and suddenly fails color vision tests haha)
(although actually the old screen was $1000 too but that was when a 24" 16:10 1920x1200 screen of the NEC's quality cost like $4,000)

so i will stick with my old answer of 0 hah

When last I took this test, a few weeks ago on my 23" Apple CInema Display that has never been "calibrated" I took the advice of others and occasionally averted my eyes from the screen to let them relax AND covered those portions of the screen that I wasn't working on at the moment. I got a perfect score of 0. Folks might want to use the technique I describe and see how their results changes...

Always a valuable exercise. My 68 year old eyes are doing fine, thank you very much...

If you have the display calibrated and profiled it make some but not a lot of difference unless it is too dark or too bright. Lighting conditions in the room and fatigue are important factors, so is what else you have on your display when you take the test.

What you are testing is your inherent ability to see differences.

Scored an 8 with my Lacie Electron22blueIV, HazelEyesVersionI

If my mother had bought me the 128 Crayola pack like I wanted, instead of the 64 pack like I got at age eight, I'm sure I would have done much better. You can never overcome bad parenting!

I remember taking this test twice a while ago on my Mitsu DP 920 CRT. Once under flourescent lighting, second under tungsten. lo and behold, first time I got a 4 with errors in the blue hues and the second time I erred on the browns/reds.
