p.1 #1 · #400 Nature understands color & texture

I've been working my tail off with lobster photos (pun intended). After 4 hours of slaving over this one, I'm finally pleased. This is out of cam, no post.

Thank you, Howeird. The local garden centers don't sell slate, so I purchased scraps of Colonial stone (green/brown), then headed to the Home Depot to find the perfect shade in latex paint. Scrubbed, and painted the rocks!

Now, I don't know what to do with them, haha.

I like them both, but I think the first one is best.

Thanks guys. I agree with Greg: The orange juice is lacking that glossy highlight on the surface. Re shoot, here I come...

Thank you, Klaus. By and large, I too prefer the lobster as the oranges suffers some minor shortcomings that need correction.

That Lobster Rocks hey there was a song back in the 80's (Rock Lobster) yea you are way too young to remember the B 52's, besides we are taking about a gorgeous piece of art you have made here almost looks like selective coloring in PP in that there is such a strong contrast between the Lobster and the rocks, beautiful work

Like both, but prefer the lobster. That color is unreal. Nice job!

Thank you for the compliments, Ray and Carolyn.

P.S. Rock Lobster is in regular rotation on my iPod. I was born in '82. Too young to experience it then, but I have an inherent attachment to it now. I'm all too familiar with the culture, music, art world and frivolous, excessive approach to it all. I love it!

Sometimes your first instinct is the right one John. Again, great image! 82? That was a good year - the year I graduated high school! I feel old!!!
