Visited a local organic farm yesterday, and spent most of the day with the Leica 50/2-R on my D610. ...photographing moving chickens with a MF lens isn't easy.

Summilux-R 35 and 80 on the A7R in the Tianshan mountain valley south of Urumqi, China. Kazakh nomads herding there for the summer. A local friend runs a wedding photo studio and I followed her team on a shoot.

Hi everyone, I've been following this thread passively for a while but have only just started posting here. I've been using with great joy my Lux R 35 and 80 and have just posted some images I took with those on my A7R about 2 weeks ago in Xinjiang, China.

Here are some of a carpet and a silk atlas (like South Asian ikat) workshop in Hotan. Again it's Lux-R 35 and 80 on A7R.

A visit to the Brecon Beacon NP to get some mileage on the 'softer' ground of blanket bog and view some relict periglacial landforms. Some interesting weather too and the vertical rainfall of the French Alps is now but a fond memory

Here are some images cross posted in the Sony A7/A7r/A7s image thread of thistle that I took last evening near the top of the Trexler Nature Preserve, Schnecksville, PA. All images tripod mounted Leica R 280mm f4 Apo Telyt lens and my Sony A7r; images processed in LR5.6.

I know that I posted the first image in this pair earlier today and I have cross posted this in the A7/A7r/A7s image thread. I am still trying to figure out how to limit the vibration of the A7r camera with long lenses in the vicinity of 200mm and longer particularly in the Portrait orientation. As more tests are run, I will try to post some results. But, both of these images were shot with my tripod mounted Leica R 280mm f4 Apo Telyt lens and my A7r. Images shot at ISO 800, I believe f4 for 1/160 second. and processed in LR5.6. The 2nd image is about a 100% crop. Look at the amazing sharpness in some of the lines in some of the thistle flower; this is what I focused on at 14.4X in Live View of the A7r.

Is that the earlier 280 APO, or the modular?

The 280/4 APO. A late model ROM version. Good for recording the .5mm [and smaller] leg fringes in a 9mm bee in flight. Obviously these are degraded jpegs, the post produced Raw files look quite sharp. I consider it a very crisp optic. It would be fun to try it on the A7r once they sort out the shutter or maybe the d810 sometime. Both images are 3200 ASA as I needed the speed to freeze these bees. Normal ASA images look considerably better.

Ah, funny, I don't know why the f/4 lens didn't even cross my mind. Weird. It isn't like I am not aware of it, and how excellent it is, but somehow I just got the image of the 280/2.8 APO in my mind.

Anyway, cool use for it!

Panorama of Mt. Maroon North peak using the Elmarit 24mm. I only took this and the 60mm macro on this walk and ended up using the 24 the most due to being in such close quarters to large rock features such as these.

This was the first real workout for this lens and I came away with mixed feelings. I struggled to focus without a hard infinity stop (adapted to an A7) a lot of the time. The joy of handling was definitely hindered by a stiff focus ring too. It could definitely do with a service.

In the end though, I was happy with most of the shots I got after a bit of sharpening.
