Some really nice shots on previous page, R gang. I think we lost Michael to the dark side (RX1) for the time being...

LtZ -- Been following your work and Samy's over at Manual Nikon Glass thread. Impressive stuff...
Greggf -- Would like to see bw version of "Stop!". I think it would turn out great.
Jack -- Beautiful shot of #3 -- Classy and sensual at the same time...

Here's one with the 50 lux...

"She's not gonna' show up.", Jones said.
"You're stuck with me", he added.
"Hey, you wanna' do something fun?" asked Jones playfully.
"You see the green thingy. Turn counter clockwise slowly......"

Officer. I'm innocent. Jones made me do it...

Thank you LZ, Kokusai & Gregg.
Yes, Summilux-R 80 is a fairly heavy lens; in fact it's heavier than my Zeiss 2/100 MP and equal to Leica 50mm f/0.95 Noctilux-M. However, when you support this Lux/A7R combo in a palm of left hand it's still easy to rotate focus ring while supporting the lens.

Your 2nd image is very good.

A trip finally to the hills, sadly the clouds vapourised before my eyes on reaching the ridge line, leaving the dreaded 'powder blue' sky clear of any interest. The conditions did present the opportunity to characterise the 100 AME and 180 AT under field conditions at distances over 1 mile. Mounted on Arca Swiss D4/GT2540F and 9kg+ rucksack underslung, MLU and timer release, mitigating factors - slight breeze, soft ground, some haze and not least an all too fallible technique

Following images from the 180/3.4 and F8, the aperture I'm most interested in for corner/edge performance at distance. Images straight OOC and converted to jpgs at 12/12 aperture quality setting. Nice!
I've found that my 180/3.4 Telyt really doesn't get any sharper past f/5.6 or so on my D800 and it's only slightly less sharp fully open (all at distance). At f/8 I start to see diffraction effects so I don't typically use it past f/5.6 unless I really need the DOF. Quite a remarkable lens!

Thanks John,

Ah, I've a trip planned to the French Alps in late spring and I think there's potential (blind optimism) with the 180/3.4 and DoF, with an as yet unknown foreground element and snow mantled peaks in clear Alpine air and twilight colour, cue the weather mocker god to schedule wind and low cloud .... I've never before had the opportunity to assess the lens character at distance, it proved a useful exercise. As you note, a remarkable lens, though I've failed miserably to do justice with it in woodland scenery.

Greggf, that's a beautiful image with Elmarit-R 90! So sharp, yet so smooth...

IMHO, Elmarit-R 90 is one of most under valued Leica lenses. It has the same optical formula of the Elmarit-M 90 but at 1/4 of its price.
