Thank you Jim, Manu, Michael, Philippe and others for your comments and 'Likes'

Personally I feel I am closing on my minimal R 'collection' with the exception of perhaps Summilux-R 50 E60, thanks to you Alex, and Walter Mandler's last needed piece the Summicron-R 90 [although Almas brings a dilemma of photographic uniqueness vs. optical perfection (Summicron-R 90 vs. APO-Summicron-R 90mm f/2 ASPH)] but otherwise I will stick to learning ups & downs of my current R glass for a while.

Great weekend to you, gents!

LoL @ JaKo. The most comfortable Leica R lenses on the D800/E are the 90AA, the 50/1.4 E60, Lux80 and the 28/2.8 VII E55. Having said that, I am too much busy at doing other shoots to try the remaining R glass.

I have both the CO 60/4 and the 90AA and much prefer the 90AA color rendition and as far as I am concerned, the 90AA sets the standard much more than the CO 60/4 as THE reference lens.
You should not compare the Cron 90 with the 90AA as they have nothing in common besides the focal length and aperture. Totally different glass and formula.

A bit of a contrast to Zhangyue's great tonality and form, here are two with the 21-35 where my exercise was simply looking to find good lines. Both 21-35, R7, Ektar, then--as you can see--tossed around in Lightroom. Post processing remains experimental for me.

Thank you for your info. I do recall your prizing APO-Summicron-R 90mm ASPH on few occasions and indeed this lens appears to be considered as one of the best in this focal range. I am an impulsive buyer so if one day I spot one in a great condition I may scoop it. Heck, ideally I would like to own both mentioned 90s as they seem to have different characteristics although right now my preference is drifting towards Mandlerís R 90 design (as I already own Summilux-R80 and Zeiss 100 MP ZF.2)

BTW, this thread, Zeiss ZF 100/2.0 versus Leica Summicron APO ASPH 90/2.0 , has a lot of great info on both R 90s, Summilux-R80 and Zeiss 100 MP, including this concise sum-up

Alex, I really like 2, 5 & 7, but especially 2 and its flaring and funky bokeh.

Thanks Jack! The unique bokeh of R35 holds me and I do not see to Sigma side

Another kind of R35 flare

A quick 3-shot pano with the 180/3.4 APO on my D800 via Leitax conversion (w/chip). Not sure I got the post processing right, but it's a start.

I am thinking of picking up a Leica 60mm macro lens. Are there any particular versions which are better than others? Not looking to spend a lot but do want a solid performing macro and landscape lens. Thanks!

theyre all the same optically. I picked up a 2 cam from KEH for a good price and it's a really great lens. I almost said little but then I remembered it's pretty big. it's got a nice flat field, too, so I kept it despite not really needing it per se:

I like it but I wouldn't pay ROM money for it when 2 and 3 cam versions go for a lot less. If it were only available at ROM price, I might honestly pass on it. But at 2 cam price it's a must buy, just like anything else in the picture at the right price.

zygibajt, such a beauty!
Ron, I don't really know, walk around at that beach, saw the interesting color and snap it. But looks like some kind of natural mineral.
Paul, which body you use?
jhinkey, the 180 looks great here!
Gary, heard many great thing about 60macro, it has single glass formula without change. For macro and landscape, it should be a great lens.

No, just handhold snap shot with some tweak in post to recreate the color I saw.
