Beautiful school bus shots Michael. Love the vivid colors.

What was the processing on these ?

How are you liking the 6D given that you've had it for a few weeks now.

Thanks for comments.

Rich, you have nice sky there. Lovely color.

I will answer together kkibrisli, don’t just get the 6D, like the mistake I made, try it out before to decide if the body suit your need. The color looks nice because of the particular scene, which is not sensitive to color separation and under some post process. It fulfill my need for small FF body with capability of adapt lens. And almost perfect handling. I love one hand operation, love the live view implementation, love the Wifi (I use it as wireless release for landscape and whole family portrait.), I love GPS so all my Hawaii photo get GPSed.

But I personally struggle with 6D color; I am not used to ‘milky’ color. and I believe the issue I am facing is real that require fairly heavy tweak in raw engine/profile to get color match human vision. At least it requires a lot more time for me to get the adequate results I like. Simple WB adjust never make it for me. Keep in mind, the color or overall look of the file is very personal, and people have different sensitivity on this, so take whatever I say with grain of salt.

For the bus shot, this couldn’t be easier to PP as the color spectrum is very simple: Yellow, blue, green, and white. Other than tweak WB to a good starting point, I boosted vibrancy to about +30, saturation +10 and turning down blue luminous slide to keep vivid sky; tweak yellow hue to orange side to reduce the green cast I don’t like; boost white slider and reduce highlight slider to keep tonality of white cloud; tweak green hue to blue side to reduce yellow cast.

The good thing about this particular picture is I don’t need worry color separation, color accuracy etc… as what I really want is giving a visual impact on color and perspective. Scene like this won’t tell you about color or tonality performance of camera. A simple by window portrait will tell you a lot more than this

Hope this helpful and I answered the question.

Michael, yes you did thanks. Think I'll keep my 5diii for now :-) Was contemplating switching to a 6d but I do like the colors from the 5d.

Michael, have you tried working in Lab color mode ? It offers much better control than the RGB mode and i'm really liking what I can do with it. Dan Margulis wrote a great book on it that I've been reading. I wouldn't mind getting ahold of a sample 6D raw file to give it a try in lab.

Manu, thanks for the comments and feedback. I am kind of newbie in PS. Having PS5 for step sharpening, that is a expensive tool for web presentation, and I don't even use it now. The Margulis's book have been on my shelf for about two years and I keep visit back first two chapter

My time is very limited with the stuff I have right now. and it is already stretching as a amateur. All I am hoping is LR, C1 or Aperture can do something integrated in their Raw process. As I feel LR4 has huge improvement over LR3 in terms of clarity, contrast changing impacting color.

As for 6D, I might be able to get the results I want but time is issue here. It could be just me prefer Sony/Nikon color just like many people prefer Canon. But check 6D thread, and canon summer thread and D800E/D800 thread here or GETDPI, it seems so obvious to me, Nikon has a edge not only DR, but color depth, tonality. I think you can get there with strong PP skill with Canon, but just require more skill and time, which I don;t have either.

What is the better way to get you some RAW file I have? or is there any place I can get raw file of 5DIII. I don't treat brand as religion. Will pick whichever suit my need.

Here are more sunset photos in the series that I posted some days ago. Images taken with my tripod mounted Leica 280mm f4 Apo Telyt lens and my Fujidfilm XE-1. All images processed in LR5. I still have more to process to post later.

I've been enjoying everyone else's photography here for a while, so I thought I'd make my own contribution.

Here are a series of photos that I took the evening of July 26, 2013 in Magic Hour over quite some distance from hill to hill (1/2 mile or more) from the Trexler Nature Preserve Environmental Center, Schnecksville, PA. Images taken with my tripod mounted Leica 280mm f4 Apo Telyt lens and my Fujifilm X-E1 camera. Additionally, the first 3 images taken with Leica 2X Apo Extender and at f16. The 4th image was used with the Leica 1.4X Apo Extender and at f11. Images processed in LR5.
