I already did the search and could not find what I wanted, so here it goes.
I want to be able to do a simple slide show with minimal effects (maybe some zooming etc.) with just photos and music. Very similar to the setup that Baines posted a few weeks ago. I am doing an end of the season slide show for the rowing team I coach so I want it to last 8-12 minutes with a few different songs in it etc. I know this has nothing to do with my wedding stuff but I figure everyone here would know best and that it would be useful knowledge for all of us wedding togs looking to do simple slide shows for whatever reason. So what software am I looking for?
My needs:
Full rez output
Minimal effects (zooming, panning etc.)
Multiple song capabilities
Useful output file format
I have considered something like Animoto but do not think the slide show would be long enough.
Doug, I'm in the same sitch. I've downloaded and played with Showit Fast... not liking it. Right now I'm messing around with Pro Show Gold and I think it will work for me. I can drag and drop a bunch of images, drag and drop an mp3, randomize the effects, and sync the whole thing to the song (or songs).
I'm going to have to look into Pro Show more seriously now.
I`ve found ProShow Gold to be bloated with too many unnecessary features so I`m using DVD PixPlay which is a simple to use app. Load the images, choose your transition, add music. Done. Anything more is fluff.
thanks everyone. I will talk to Evan about it, but he is busy and notoriously hard to reach. I have looked at pro show in the past but did not really like the interface. I will look at dvd pixplay later tonight.
Keep em coming if anyone uses something else.
Not really sure if it does full rez, but I have showit web, which is nice for web presentation. It's pretty simple to use, and you can make a slideshow without doing a lot of work. However, I really hate the limitations the program puts for the basic kit, which is still $100. You can't use more than one track per show, and my shows usually need at least 2 songs.
I use Memories On TV http://www.codejam.com/ and Animoto . I recently did an Animoto slideshow for a client who then decided they wanted to have it loop at their party (big Bat Mitzvah at Soldier Field). Animoto has an ISO download but no looping ability. Not all DVD players have a loop function either. So I downloaded the high res Animoto mp4 and imported it into the Memories On TV timeline, selected the loop playback tab and it worked like a charm.
One thing that really bothers me about Animoto is that on the portrait shots it pretty much amputates the feet on EVERY shot. Wish it would show full frame on some of the images. I guess it's better than amputating the head.
If you have Nero Burning it has a simple slide show maker, you can only put in 99 images but as many songs as you like. I usually put 3 in that puts me at 12 min. It also has some simple actions such as fade, slide left, zig zag ect... I use Fade for mine. To much movement makes me mental.
