Can you re-photograph it to make the "leg stumps" sharp. I like the color, but to me making the scratches sharp rather than the body of the hose connector doesn't play to the strength of the shape.

Karen, I understand your point. Of couse I didnt have to sharpen the top. Shot at f2, obviously focus on top. Do you think I should try similar DOF with focus on the "stumps"?

Yes, but perhaps with slightly greater DOF to get more of the connection structure reasonably sharp.
