Decided to get on this one quickly. Assuming I don't get different ideas later in the week

I find vases to be quite feminine.

Good work! I dunno why but I have this feeling that the bottom should be cropped a little higher though.

Very good idea and execution. If I may be allowed to offer, I think that making the vase completely opaque (or even black) via PP could be an improvement. This will enhance the abstractness of the pic, reduce the vase recollection and therefore enhance the WA motif.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

Brilliant execution and masterful use of negative space. The vase and the feminine form create just enough tension to make your eyes want to flip between them.

Well done.

Paul, I think you did an excellent job of capturing the assignment!

I agree with the others that there is enough tension in the photo to keep attention for many minutes... Well done, Sir!

Interesting idea. I think you need to keep the vase the way it is to keep the context of the photo. Making this a full silhouette might make it too abstract for the theme. I like it the way it is.

I think it's a great shot. The lighting works very well, Barbara

Thank you all very very much for the comments and suggestions. As a shoot who still shoots a lot of film, the lighting on this was finicky enough that I was glad I shot it digital; it would have taken weeks otherwise

In this a particular case, I think if the vase was all black, it would be too "graphic", instead of photographic. I tried cropping the photo in various ways (this shot is entirely uncropped in post, the GH-1 supports square mode natively), but it kind of lost the impression of "legs" and that lovely feminine shape.

The weekly assignment is always fun

Good idea, and nicely presented. The form says feminine to me. I agree that it is well balance within the frame too.
