Thanks to you guys, i added the little OM 18mm gem to my wish-list. Karma points must have been running high, as one appeared on the local Craigslist a couple months later. I pounced on it.
I was in Cuba for 3 weeks shooting a documentary and brought the 18mm along. It's a shooters paradise down there and i fell in love with that little Zuiko, hard.
Here's some shots
(the official Zuiko 18mm thread has been archived)
WOW, as a Cuban immigrant & now American Citizen, these images are extremely touching. I was too young to remember anything of my birthplace but the stories told by my parents, family, & friends have painted a detailed image for me. These (new) images of yours contrast with my 'painted' images and illustrates the continued deterioration & decay that has been occuring for the last half century.
Image number 10 is particularly striking to me because not only does it clearly depicts the poor state of conditions for most of the Cuban population, but ironically, I work in supermarket refrigerated cases & equipment...so that one in particular is rather poignant for me.
Wonderful set. There is another Cuban thread in the people forum, that you may want to add these to (I added a few of my own). I can't point out my favorites because I like so many. Really great work here. Erik.
These are excellent shots, really nicely done - great subject matter and treated well photographically. The fact that the OM 18 was used is just icing on the cake too, and nice example of why this lens is so highly regarded. The street portraits and architecture shots are really superb. Thanks for sharing!
