p.1 #2 · Is there anything similar to AB ringflash ?
Anything cheaper than AB wouldn't be very good. However, you might also consider Elinchrom D-Lite 2's. Excellent color and exposure accuracy for the money and a good value.

No. For what you get with the ABR800, it is very inexpensive and very good quality for the money.
Compare it to an Elinchrom, hensel, Broncolor or Profoto ring flash ( of course those are also capable of using up to 2400 watt-seconds from one of their generators

Just looking to do some more portraiture and was considering Nikon SB900, or ABR800.
ABR800 even few $$ less. All the pro stuff is a little too much $$ for the start.
p.1 #5 · Is there anything similar to AB ringflash ?
Yes, I just spent almost the cost of the AB800 just buying a reflector for my Profoto ring flash! The AB800 is pretty impressively priced when you remember that it includes the generator.

The really nice thing about the ABR and the similar ZRM head for the Paul C Buff Zeus pack and head system is that when you get tired of, or don't need, the ring flash look you can use it with an Umbrella, with a grid and they even have a couple of softbox options for using it off camera as a more traditional type of lighting source.
Some commercial and editiorial photographers use their ring flashes off camera without modifiers as their key lights for portrait work. Lois Greenburg ( who use Profoto) does this a lot.

Yes, I've also seen photographers mount it directly above the camera, that pushes the shadow down behind the subject and it's also easier than attaching your camera to the ring flash. I just got the 15" Profoto silver softlight reflector and am looking forward to trying it out as a key light for beauty work.

Are you doing inside or outside photography? Visico Intelligent LR is very good... but it doesn't have powergenerator (I've heard its gonna come soon and it will work with LR series)
Else it works fine and its almost pretty much fast as Speed RX, comes with remote for 6 strobes, fast recycle, autodump et.,
Pretty cheap too, just 1x300 kit = almost same price as 1x70 Elinchrom BD hehe

If you have a Nikon with a pop up flash and CLS capability, and you don't have any spedlights or studio flash equipment yet, you may want to consider getting the SB-900 and a rayflash ring light adapter (or the $50 Coco ripoff).
If you don't have any lighting gear, I wouldn't recommend a dedicated ringflash as your first purchase really. If your camera can fire the SB-900 wirelessly, and especially if it can do it with FP high speed sync, I think you will have more options getting your first speedlight.
