Dont know:
But on the Canon USA website there are a bunch of consumer camcorders that say NEW available April 2010.
I know diddly about video cameras but have these already been announced?
This one is a game-changer, the end of an era, we'll never look at our D-SLRs the same way again, I literally cannot contain my overflowing levels of excitement, am currently dancing around the room counting my pennies for the developments this will throw up in the next few months.
Holy crap! I can't believe they actually pulled it off. Goodbye Nikon. Goodbye Sony.

550D? Interesting, Canon Europe homepage is still plugging the 500D, is this official yet?
DPReview are pretty reliable, I think it's as true as possible. Also on British Journal of Photography, they add..
The 550D will retail from 24 February. Prices start at £800 (body-only) or £900 with the 18-55mm lens and £1100 with a 18-135mm lens. The double lens kit will retail at £1200.

And how, may I ask, are they "crappy"?
Sorry, I meant "wonderful pocket photographic machines" , I'm sure they are amazing tools ... Sorry, I'm a bit disappointed as I was expecting (silly me, I know) a 1ds4 ....
I wasn't expecting a new 1ds4, but at the very least something more apropos to the tag line "canon at the movies". You know, something that will be used for more than capturing a 9 yr old blowing out birthday candles.
I'm sure all the indie filmmakers are going to dump their 5d2's in favor of the t2i.....
