p.1 #1 · 1Ds vs 5D II or 1Ds II

I use 1Ds with 35L now. I mainly shoot under Iso 400, sometimes go Iso 800
My question is: is it worth the upgrade into 5D II or 1Ds II when i only shot under ISO 400, is the IQ different between them under ISO 400? Should I upgrade?

Thank for all ur comment !

I think that for what you are doing that there is no real need for an upgrade.

The 1 Ds creates wonderful files and there is no real reason to upgrade for what you are doing.

I've even gotten wonderful images of BIF with the 1 Ds.

No need, unless you want more resolution. 1Ds is still a great camera at low iso.

I had both & long ago I had a 1Ds, and of the 3 I've kept the 1Ds2 because it fits my needs best. I'd really find it hard to believe there's a noticable difference in IQ between the 5D2 & 1Ds under ISO 800, or if there is I couldn't see it in my tests. Both make a nicer file than the 1Ds though, and battery life is way better too (on either of them). I'm not sure if any of this can help but I uploaded my test files into an album & any or all can be downloaded for inspection. They aren't really what you shoot but they might help.

Unless you specifically need more resolution, not really.

Actually i think 1ds was not very good at iso 400, in terms of shadow noise.

While i love 1ds very much, the classic 1d impress me even more so.

You guys smoking something? The 1Ds had noise at iso 100. At iso 400 you had to expose perfectly otherwise you would get both noise and banding. The original 5D killed it for noise, DR, latitude, etc at every single iso and yes I owned and shot wedding with both of them.

If you are after image quality the most then you cannot go past the 5D Mark II.

Check this thread. mttran is making ISO comparison with pictures, between the 1Ds2 and 5D2. (scroll down to pictures)
