Gee, I've known Dave since the days when DaveinLa, the hotel (Wacky Roger), Mr Zoom, Stardog (Bob Malbon) bobbyz,Trailhiker et al had Panasonic FZ ultrazooms and were regulars over at the DpReview Panasonic forum. Dave was a master with his cameras back then, and was a big inspiration to us all. And when he Went Canon, why, we followed him.... We had quite a few cross-country cellphone chats, and always planned on getting together somewhere, sometime. Shoulda, coulda,woulda...*sigh* You're in my thoughts and prayers, my friend.
Update on his condition posted on BPF this morning.
Jan. 23rd update- Bad news.
Denise,
I talked with Dave's sister this morning, the doctors told her and his mother that there is nothing else they can do for Dave and Dave will probably not make it thru this weekend. I do not like to be the bearer of bad news especially when it concerns such a good friend. I will keep you posted.
When I first started to get a feel of the "landscape" in the N&W, I realized that Dave and I were separated by less than four hours of pavement. I reached out in a PM to say "Hi" and introduce myself. Dave was so friendly, and invited me to get up with him anytime I was down thataway. Dignified, gentle, and compassionate to us that are trying to get a game together. Without the encouragement of of guys like Dave and my other N&W buddies, I woulda chunked this thing a long time ago. As we all know, it's hard to get a grip when you're first starting out.
Get well, soon, Dave, and I'll run down to shoot some spring birdies with ya and stomp around those Red River bayous!

God Billy this has to be one of the toughest posts you have ever had to make.I know it is one of the toughest I have evev had to read. It seems like just a few days ago he and I chatted about upstate New York where he once lived. I wish he would have been able to make one trip to my home in the Catskills and we both could have made visits to some eagle nests. I just know he would have loved and cherished it for ever as I do.
I pray for a miracle and hope many will also in hopes the Doctors are wrong

Lou, I am also praying for a miracle, Dave is my best friend and it is hard to see your friend in the hospital in this condition. Dave is a Christian and told me if anything happened it would be ok so I know if the miracle does not come thru, we will meet again. I want to thank you and everyone else for the prayers for Dave and his family and anyone who wants to sign Dave's comment page on his website is welcome http://critterscapes.zenfolio.com/
I've met Dave twice (completely by accident), as I live in the same city and we've talked and shot some ducks together.
Just this past weekend I was at the park practicing on more ducks in flight and thought to myself "it will be cool if I see Dave here again". I had no idea this was happening!
Here's to getting better man - all the best and some prayers for you!

Billy,
I have walked in your shoes twice. Once for my best man at my wedding and best friend and the other I had to pull the plug on my wife of 40 years. I feel and know your pain and can only say that if things go the wrong way time does help but that’s about all. Some things never leave you completley but you try
