One possible reason is that the part of an LCD that is showing the picture is actually behind what you see as the screen, and the 1mm difference actually makes a difference, which is the whole point of what MA tries to address. I didn't do a scientific experiment out of this, just personal experience that it totally didn't work. YMMV.
