I got me one last week and the cheap chinese adapter did not give me infinity (as expected...). No problem. I just turned the focus ring to infinity, loosened the three screws on the focus ring and turned the ring slightly. Attached the screws and turned the ring to infinity again. Voila! I have infinity. I am very very pleased with the lens. It is now in my three lens travel kit...

Looks like a beauty!

Can we see some "Brainiac" type 3-d shots with this baby?

We will see. Initial tests give quite good 3D.

Great! Awhile ago I was thinking of getting a CZ 35 1.4 but but decided to hold off and wait to see if this rumored new Zeiss ZF/ZE 35 1.4 version happens and also see what the Samyang 35 1.2 EF version is like.
But now I will be teased by all these great zeiss 35 1.4 shots. I see where this thread is headed!
This should be good, keep them coming!

What do the OOF highlights look like at f/2 and f/2.8?

Are we seeing aspherics at work in that shot Richard? I see onion rings. Not saying it's a bad thing, I find it exciting as it usually means little/no coma in 35's with aspheres.

Interesting, either way a sharp lens with good bokeh is very accurately corrected. I must say if they made a 35/1.4 ZM I might have chosen that over the immensely expensive 35 summilux asph, the most expensive lens I've ever bought.

I really do like my 25 ZM biogon, and from what I've seen the ZF/ZE 35/2 looks fantastic, in retrospect I might have preferred that over the Leica lenses of the same focal length as well! All they need is a better fast 50, and a sharper fast short tele. That being said, they're making arguably the best glass for the EF/F mount at the moment. A 35/1.4 would really bring the fight to Canon/Nikon.

It's a very exciting time for optics, the most recent canon lenses (24 II, 24 TS, 17 TS) are honestly ridiculously good, even though for my purposes a lens without a decent distance scale is very annoying. I can only imagine it'll be a couple of years and we'll have lenses achieving diffraction limited sharpness at very large apertures with fantastic uniform bokeh. Perhaps that will further increase interest in lenses like the 58 biotar for it's unique rendering and swirl

Funny, Thought I would find triangular bokeh objectionable but it's actually not too bad!

Your lens looks extremely good wide open, I guess its hard to tell with web-sized samples but it looks like it might be better than my CY version!

The flare control from the HFT coatings looks outstanding. Flare control was one of the things that impressed me most about the CY when I got it - it has a very scratched front element with lots of cleaning marks and the flare performance is barely effected!

One of these days I will have to post a picture of the front element.

This lens was a shoe-in for my travel kit for china but now that I have the CV 40/2 i'm not so sure... maybe I will bring both and only take the 35/1.4 out at night when I need it

The flare control is excellent so far.
Sharpness at f/1.4 is great and vignetting is quite low.
The 35L has AF. The Zeiss has the rest.
