There is vignetting, and then there's vignetting. Yes, I realize there is some fall off at f/2.8, but with a filter or lens shade that is too far out, you get absolute vignetting that you can't correct with Photoshop or Pt Lens. I've checked it before by using Live View on a Leica 28, and a normal 55E B+W polarizer will cut the corners off on Live View. So you can see it before and after in a clear cut manner. I don't mind the normal vignetting, that you are likely alluding to, that much. It's a compromise they made to allow us to use the wider aperture with such good resolution, etc.
