Which lens you never use but never going to sell it?

I will start myself:

Tamron 24-135 SP---it was my first non prime lens, it brings me good memories and yes I thought about selling but...I always regret it

I have no sentiments for gear. What I don't use and don't foresee using in the near future I sell. I'm not rich enough to keep useless gear.

I have a 70-200 F2.8 IS that I hardly ever use now. I bought a 100-400 2 summers ago and I've used it ever since. Don't think I want to sell it though because it's such a nice lens.

I thought I'd feel that way about my 50mm F/1.8 Mk I, but once I listed it, the emotions were somewhat gone. If I sought after a lens such as the 80-200L F/2.8 or my next 28-80L F/2.8-4, I might keep them in my collection just to have the first "L"in the particular line. My 50mm f/1.4 I'll most likely keep though just because it was a welcoming gift to me from photographer friend.

My Canon AE-1 Program with Canon 50/1.4 Lens. I haven't used it in probably 3 years, but I can't bring myself to let it go. It was my first SLR that I bought with my own money and I used it all through film school. I've also got my dad's old Minolta X700 with several lenses that I never use, but it's got sentimental value.

As far as modern gear is concerned, I've got a set of Kenko Extension Tubes just sitting in my bag that I use about twice a year. One of those items that I don't really use, but wont get rid of. I guess it was cheap enough to just hang on to.

I've got a FM3A, MD12 and Nikkors 28-50 3.5 AI, 35-70 3.5-4.5 AI, 35 2.0 AIS, 50 1.4 AIS, 135 2.8 AI and 200 4 AI I've not used for 7 or 8 years. Kinda reminds me of museum pieces or photographic sculptures. Lenses are really precise, smooth turning and solid compared to modern optics. Probably should take pictures of it all and toss it on B&S.

I'm not that sentimental about gear. If I have it, I use it. I have only one regret (sort of) I sold the 200mm f/2.8 L and have on a rare occasion wished it was still in my bag.

I have 70-200 F4 and since I got the IS version of the same lens I don't use it any more, but it's a very fine lens and won't bring me a lot of money if I sell it so I'm hesitant to do so. Perhaps I also keep it for sentimental reasons - I bargained hard for this lens buying it in Kuala Lumpur and I took it a lot of places around the world.

Shouldn't your photos remind you of these places rather than the gear you shot it with?

I am not sure I share the same sentiments as expressed here. But I do have lenses which I rarely reach for: 24-70f2.8L, 70-200f2.8L, 400f5.6L. The ones I reach for respectively are 24-105L, 70-200f4L, and 300f2.8L.

Tamron 500mm f8 mirror lens. It won't bring much anyway and I'm too embarrassed to let anyone know I actually have one. I only use it at night so no one sees me.

I've sold off lenses before that I wasn't using, wasn't happy with, or was just going to upgrade. Camera bodies I tend to be more 'sentimental' about. I still have my (film) Olympus OM4T, and Canon Rebel & RT along with a whole collection of absolete film cameras.

A few years ago I thought my "like new" 300 f/2.8 IS wasn't used enough so I sold it. All in all, I must have lost about $1,000 in that transaction, when one takes into consideration that the lens was bought new and the taxes I had to pay on it.

Within less than 6 months I've realised that the lens is missed for those special low light occasions, so I bought another brand new one.

That kinda reinforced my position not to sell any stuff even if not used that often, unless there is a clear cut case of needless redundancy or some sorta neccessity.

It is EF 50 f/1.8 (the so called mark I).

I got it as NOS (New Old Stock) and only mounted it once. It was the first Canon EF lens I got (in 1990) and I re-bought it just to have it in my collection.

I will not sell it for practically any money.

I am actually not using 85 f/1.8 much either but since I sold it and bought again three times, I would keep it.

Canon 300 2.8. I'm on my second one. First one was a beater that worked great that I sold because I didn't use it enough to keep. Bought another one near new and may sell again. May sell the 300 2.8 and buy my second Canon 70-200 2.8 that I sold for the same reason. It's tough to hold onto $3500 + glass that is not used often enough to justify keeping.
