If you have not been following my past 2 posts, Monk Parakeet are exotics that have taken up residence in the NE US and other parts of North America. They are non migratory birds originally from South America. I had the treat of a flock of them visiting my yard last weekend. The photos were taken through my double pain kitchen window.

Comments and suggestions welcome,

Morris

These are great. I am loving seeing this bird in the wild in NYC no less!! Since you asked, you might want to bump the ISO up and stop it up a bit on the portraits. I've been shooting at ISO 800-1000 with my 80-400 and have been getting excellent results when set to Neutral Mode on the D300. Things might be different on the D200 though. Just a thought. In any event, these are great captures Morris

What a superb series, Morris! I'd never seen any of these until a few years ago when my father took me to see a bunch of them in the Chicago area. They're beautiful birds.

Yep Morris a very nice series and a great ending! #3 has all the character I must say a fine job in this type of lighting and great results at such slow shutter speeds. Thanks I enjoyed these birds

Morris,
I'm glad you posted this series, it is a treat to see such beautiful birds in the wild
even though they aren't native to this country. #3 is my favorite

Thanks Tim

Morris

another nice set of this lovely parakeet. Love the colors.

# 3 is my favorite.

Lil
P.S. To Mick Haensler the D200 will not handle higher ISO like the D300. Morris is right to stay at ISO 400 on the D200.

Very nice ones Morris and I have certainly enjoyed this series. Great shooting through the window and still getting amazing detail. Hope they visit again to brighten up the winter.

Thank you Mick,

Thank you Karl,

The conditions are challenging. I've been doing this for years and have learned a lot of tricks.
