Using a converter you can put a nikon lens such as 14-24 to canon 5d2? Has anyone tried that before?

you would probably get a much better response in the alternate gear forum here.

I'm sure the 14-24 is an excelent lens and better than the 16-35 but impartial that website just isnt, considering they sell the convertor for it...

That's a seriously pricey adapter. Nice lens, though.

The article on using live-view in the November (I think) issue of Popular Photography was done mostly with a Nikon lens mounted on a 5DII.

I do it all the time. The new G series Nikon lenses will not have aperture adjustment though.

The Nikon 14-24 is the finest wide angle zoom on the market. It's also pretty darn expensive. I sold a used one for more than I paid for it. HA!

I tried ordering that adapter through 16.9 and never got it. He was having trouble with getting parts and was very unresponsive to e-mail. Took me months just to get my money back. I don't trust him.

Yes, it's a good idea but IMHO a D700 + 14-24 is an even better one.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

I do it with a handful of lenses. Here is a link to a page with three nikon on canon shots. The 85mm f1.8, 60mm f2.8 micro, and the 300mm f4 afs.

Well, perhaps he's got his act together in the last year. It also probably helps that you're in the UK. I'm in Colorado, so out of sight, out of mind perhaps. You're close enough you can look him up if he screws you over.

Thanks. Will this adapter work with Nikon G lenses?

The 16.9 adapter is "supposed" to work with the G series lenses, matter of fact, I think that's what they were designed for. Somebody who actually has one would have to tell you how well they work or how well they are built. I've gotten rid of all my G series lenses, but still have a bunch of old manual focus lenses I use with a standard metal (dumb) adapter. One of the great things about Canon bodies is you can use other lenses on them. You can actually use more Nikon lenses on a Canon body than you can on Nikon body. Strange.

You think he faked all those pictures used in the extensive comparisons?

I have always viewed the Nikon 14-24G lens as 4 L-quality prime lenses in one reasonably priced package. How good is that? Here's a shot with the 14-24G on a Canon 5D Mk II.
