p.1 #1 · Where and how to learn?

Hey Folks - Wondering if you had any advice on how to do this not imitate her series - not anything about the set up - but the PP... the vintage "paper texture" scratches, torn edges - THAT.

also seen here (i cant direct link to her images click --> Galleries - kids and you'll see what I mean)

no one needs to give me a tutorial, but maybe direct me towards one? maybe a book? Or even a favorite plugin or action for photoshop that I can play with until it comes out right?

As I get more and more into portrait photography - the more I want to digitally enhance it.

thanks for reading!!

Edit- I just want to say again - I don't want to learn how to rip off either of the two great photographers linked here - I just want to learn the techniques that they used and apply it to my own developing style

I was going to - and I probably still will, but I didn't want to limit myself to just one persons take.

But, you ask abt her work, no?

Why not go to the source with a PM...sooner or later she will notice this thread anyway.

Its all about Adobe Brushes and layers. I have tried it but failed. It takes somone with some creativity to make them look that great.

Here is another person is is just amazing at using brushes and textures.

yep!!! Practice...practice..practice...

One picture of mine can have as many as 20 different layers all blended to the nth degree. Takes alot of patience and time, but I tend to be that type of person who enjoys those tedious details.

Ian,
How are you doing working on the layering and textures? Did you find the tutorial I mentioned to be adequate?

Would you mind sharing the source of that tutorial? PM if that is preferred.

Thanks
Larry

Larry, there is a short tutorial on www.tofurious.com that goes over the basics of the grunge effect and texture work. Textures are also available for purchase and the site is an awesome source of info for wedding photography. I don't shoot weddings but others might be interested.
