Hi guys,

I did a lot of shooting and fishing today and managed to get a few keepers. (Well, as far as the photos go at least. No fish.) This is the upper most part of the Sacramento River just below the Lake Siskiyou Dam in Mt. Shasta, CA. I call it the lost world since it somewhat reminds me of Jurassic Park with all the dense vegetation and old ruins. This particular spot is a few hundred yards up stream from Cantara Loop... For those who know the area.

1. Notice the 100+ year old remnants in the upper right? That use to be a bridge along the road leading to the Nae Springs Resort. Some of you may recall a recent post of mine of Fairy Falls in which I talked about the old Nae Springs mineral/hot springs/fishing resort. That place is a few miles South West of here along Nae Creek, which leads into the Sacramento River pictured here.

I shot these right around sunset and I did get some interesting color casts due to the colorful clouds above me. Over all I'm pretty happy with the shots. I felt a little rushed since I was losing light quickly and was still a long way from the Jeep. It was about 30 degrees outside when I shot these. Winter's coming!

I'd be happy with these also, the second shot is awesome Tim. I like how the tree bends with the contour of the hill side. The last two are moody and appear very dark on my screen.

NIce stuff Tim. The water seems a bit hot in the first. For me it makes it a bit difficult to soak in the view. The others are all winners for sure.

No sir, no filters. Just a standard UV filter to protect the lens.

Really like the 2nd!! Excellent composition and subtle contrasts! The reflecting light in the 1st is beautiful as well.

The second I saw that tree I knew it made the shot. That picture is my only frame of the that scene I shot.

The last too are pretty dark... Hopefully not too dark. I try to keep things looking as accurate as possible to the way they looked in person, and well... It was dark. On my monitor the whites are on the verge of being a little too hot, but I think they're acceptable. But of course.... All monitors seems a bit different.

The whiteness was the reflection from the sky (obviously) and it really appeared that bright. Look at the shutter speed difference on that frame compared to the others.

I had a feeling this shot wasn't going to be for everyone (as Amador mentioned below) but it sure was gorgeous in person and I tried to capture it the best I could.

Great set here looks like an awesome area for lots of great exploration, really like your comps here but #1 really stands out for me. The only suggestion I have and it's a personal thing I may try to warm up #2 just a tad. All are very nicely seen here Tim

In order Tim, #1, #2, #4. Great shots all. Spend some time on the upper Russian River about 18 months ago. These are very reminiscent on the environment.

beautiful series Tim. I like the cool (blue) tint. It suits the place alot. #2 is my favorite, followed by #1 and #4.

The upper Russian River has some spectacular spots... That must have have been a nice trip. The forest up there and the one here share some similar characteristics and features.

Tim - the vegetation and rocks in Box Canyon as depicted in shots 3 and 4 look like a great subject for another photo session all on their own. I like the contrasts of the various shades of green topping off the gray of the stone walls below.

I'd love to see more of those portions of this scene where they were the primary subject of the shot/exposure.
