p.1 #1 · The Cream Machines....

Hello,
I am taking the time to catalog and organize all my images. As I review them I am always pleased and amazed by the results delivered by the 200 2.0 VR (which I sold ) and the 85 1.4 on the FX sensor. The smoothness and creamy backgrounds genereated by these lenses are really beautiful. I love shooting around f2 and f2.2. The images below were shot with the 200 and 85 at f2 to f2.2. No real point to this post just wanted to share some thoughts and images. Thanks for looking.

Absolutely beautiful samples of what two great lenses can do in the right hands. Don't forget the 300VR in that group though, really the nicest bokkeh I've ever experienced... although I haven't spent significant time with the 200VR to compare. Thanks for sharing.

They are nice images. I like the second photo the best. Just out of interest, why did you sell the 200mm VR and do you miss it.

p.1 #4 · The Cream Machines....

Hi Solomon10,
I had bought the 200 2.0 used at great price. Although it is the best Nikon lens (in terms of color, sharpness, contrast, etc) that I have shot with I found it to be a little to cumbersome to use on a regular basis. To short on FX for sports, and to large to use comfortably for portraits. So I sold it for what I paid for it. Also, I had sold my 70-200 and I have been waiting for the new version. From the sounds of it the performance of the new 70-200 VR II is going to be outstanding and then I'll have the 200mm range covered. I find the 85 1.4 to be the perfect portrait lens on FX. Thank you
Jack

Hi Allstarimaging.
OK. It makes clear sense now. I am sure the new 70-200mm VR II will be a outstanding as well. I have just bought the 200mm F2 VR and D700. I am thinking of becoming a wedding and portraits photographer. Therefore, I need to buy one more lens. Maybe the 85mm f1.4 or 24/28-70mm f2.8. Though i would like to keep the 200mm f2 VR because of the unique style it can offer. It was yours and Trenchmonkeys photos that inspired me too buy this lens. Good luck with your lens and I look forward to seeing some photos.

Nice shots. I find the 85mm focal length a little short for me on FX. I'm going with the 135mm DC.
