Shot this a while ago on a Northern California trip. A small book by Carr Clifton was what inspired me to visit this place. Seeing the lupines here worked out as a nice foreground lure and it was pretty windy but still went for it. I'm surprised I was able to catch them sharp in the frame but now when I look at them I can feel them. Sorry no glow added here, don't use that.. . ever. I do have a few more sitting in the chamber from this spot and hope to share them sometime soon.

Hi steve, great capture! Looks like an amazing place, although i do have a small irk about the focus. The background is much brighter and occupies more of the frame, therefore draws more attention, and it feels odd having the 'main' part of the image out of focus

Steve, I love the setting with the fg lupines. The contrast of the large rocks and
coast is so inviting. Nicely seen and captured.

Donald, Thanks for the critique. The background is a little too bright but I'd have to disagree on the viewer staying there longer than in the foreground. Sharpness, contrast, and saturation is mainly what holds a viewers interest. I have placed the lupines close enough for the viewer touch, grab or smell them and have selectively used the "Depth of Field" near to far drop off to work in my advantage. That would make the lupines the main subject almost instantly.

Great shot with some fantastic light. I really like the lupine as the subject of this picture. It has a very novel feeling too it since I don't often see flowers used with beach shots. Well done.

Really like your second edited version. The DOF and the sharpness draws me in much more efficiently than the first. Nice light to.

Very nice image Steve - rare to get an opportunity to send a great coastal scene into the background but in this case it really works well.

Wonderful image, Steve. Quite a lovely setting. The golden glow in the background is a wonderful companion to the foreground lupines. Very nice work.
