I don't understand why I seem to have such terrible luck when it comes to long vacations, but today one of the rubber feet on my Gitzo GT1530 tripod came off. I have no idea how that happened. I was in Wuyishan, Fujian, China photographing some stuff. Since it was getting late, I decided to expand my tripod when I notice that one of the feet was missing. I was really surprised at that and thought the feet may have came off somewhere in that area. So I went back to retrace my steps, but I failed to find the missing part. I'll be in Hong Kong on November 24th and I'm wondering where I can find buy Gitzo parts. Does anyone here have any idea how much it cost?
I've bought rubber feet in a store in HK before. It's been there forever, and is highly reputable... it's in the TsimShaTsui area of Kowloon. The name is Tin Cheung, and yes, it is in a back alley... so it's definitely not a tourist-trap with outrageous prices.
I don't remember how much it costs, but I bought a set for my 2-series Gitzo last year without thinking twice, so it must not have been too expensive.
Thanks for the information and yea I do know where Tin Cheung is. It took a while, but I found it when I was in HK last year. I guess I'll be back there to get it. I didn't know they sold Gitzo parts because when I was there last year, all I saw were bags, tripods, lenses, and cameras.
