It is a an interesting spot. For me though the composition is a bit disorientating and its hard to tell where I am looking from and what I am looking at.
Maybe a different time of the day might give more depth to the picture.
Thanks for your comments. Simon is right about the mystery at Yellowstone's thermal areas…especially in the first hour or so of the day, when (normally) fog and steam provide an ever-changing view of the landscape. Without it I think many of the views are so-so…straightforward but lacking drama.
This second picture is a smaller area along the edge of the vent that morning…intended to be "elemental." Origins of life, indeed.
