Can anyone tell me whether I need a slim profile CPL for this lens to avoid vignetting at 17mm? I found past threads addressing this issue with the 16-35, but not with this lens.

I am looking at the B+W MRC slim, but if I could get standard profile filter, I could save a few bucks, and still use a standard lens cap. That might be easier to live with.

I have not had an issue with mine and I don't use a slim one. Much easier with the lens cap this way. - Paul

I use a Hoya standard CPL filter. Don't think this is an issue with a crop factor camera.

I got a small amount vignetting on my 5D when I used a CP on my 17-40, it was a regular Hoya CP. On a crop body camera it'll be a non-issue though.

You don't. You might on a 16-17mm FF equivalent which would be about 10mm on 1.6x. 17mm on 1.6x is cropped away enough to where a normal filter will be a-okay.

I use a B+W normal CP on my 17-55 without any problem. Vignetting should not be an issue.

But I have Vignetting issue at 17 to 20mm.
My CPL is B+W 77mm Kaesemann MRC SLIM CPL C-PL Filter. Could you let me know if the problem is len or it is just normal.

I have a little vignetting on the wide end of my 17-55. This vignetting doesn't change whether the B+W 77 KSM C-POL MRC (non-slim) is on or off the lens.
