As I walked into the bathroom I spotted lots of green birds in our flowering pair tree. The tree was bright orange in full fall color. I notice the tree was full of green birds and I dropped the magazine I was about to read and ran for my camera. I head to out kitchen which has the best view and started taking photos through the double pain window. An hour later when I remembered I needed to go I headed back upstairs and found my magazine waiting for me.

These non migratory exotics are Monk Parakeets and have made there home in North America with colonies throughout New England with a very famous colony in Brooklyn New York. There were 8 birds in my tree here in Queens and we have seen and/or heard them for the past few days. We are wondering if they are establishing a new colony here.

I’ll post more of these beautiful birds another day.

Comments and suggestions welcome,

Morris

I wasn't sure what to expect with the title on the post. I am glad I checked out, these are very nice. The first two are my picks. It's always fun to get a capture in your own backyard. - Paul

That's great that they decided to stop by your house Morris. Nice job capturing them along with the fantastic colors of the BGs. I like the close-up in #4 the best. Wish I had some of these in my backyeard.

Morris I used to have one of these when I was a teenager,

but I fast traded her in as I read they're really only happy in a flock.

Nice catches.

Morris - I really wish you'd start putting the numbers before the photos - after becomes confusing to me...

So - my count - - # 4 & 6 are my favorites.
