Whenever I try to get some wing blur goin on, I go for 1/800s shutter. that's wat works best for me
anyway you got some awesome shots here Garen...specially the IF cormy
From the osprey series I like #7 the most.

I was experimenting to get sharp body with blurry wing motion hence, lower shutter speed.
Great set,Garen. I like the Cormie Emergency shot.
As for the shot you tried to achieve,I learned a good lesson about this kind of shot
you're talking about when I was in AZ this past summer. You've already seen some
of my hummer shots in that the body is sharp but wing has a blurry motion.
This happen when you use a fill flash with a strong ambient light. My setting were like f/9,1/250s,iso 250-400.
Make sure that the ambient light is stronger than the fill flash. Like Morris suggested, using a tripod for this type of shooting
will make it a lot easier for you to get a sot. Since an Ospry is much bigger than a hummer,I think you have a pretty good chance to get the shot you want .
Nice Garen, I think you got what you wanted in #7, but the head angle police in me thinks that the head should've turned towards the camera a little ....
BTW, your timing of the shots and that of the Osprey's nictitating membrane closing was just perfect. You can see it in #5 as well as #6.
