Saturday I headed up to Fir Island for the first time this season to meet up with Tom and Tim. Maggie also came up and we all had a fairly short window of opportunity for photography before the light went south on us so it was a fairly shorter outing than usual. It seemed very early in the season as there were not large numbers of raptors spotted. The Snow Geese are present but they were a bit far off to capture by the time I arrived.,
I didn't get any looks at the Short-eared Owl like Tim and Tom did, but Maggie and I drove up to Edison and found a few gray sky raptors on wires
C & C welcome and appreciated as always.
Thanks for looking/commenting,
4) WireHawk (Juvi-Rough-legged?)
5) SEO w/2x from last season (heavy PP and I'm withholding my RAW file thank you)
6) SEOIF - hoping for a few more of these this season
Boy it was slim pickins for sure Jay but great hangin with you and Tim. Neat surprise to see Maggie too!! I sure like the compo in the juvi BE shot bro and you did well in the withering light Man you got close to the Towhee and glad to see the RTH, contemplating his next meal. You know the SEO's are favs of the set brutha and I know we are gonna kill em this year
Hi Jay. Hey the Eagle and Hawk are showing up rather blocked up in the shadows for me, I realize light was an issue and there may not be much to recover.
I like the Towhee, that guy is all puffed up The SEO on the 'dining stump' is a nice image, I like the gaze Last IF is a fine shot buddy, a touch up on a little noise maybe and that one is my pick!
Man Jay, was that Towhee alive I have never been that close to one Now about that stick Man I want some more SEO action, your images from last year are looking pretty good!!
It was great to have the bunch of us together regardless with what we came away with
Tom - Thanks bro. I just hope the voles will still be abundant there for the SEO's dining pleasure.
Dan - Thanks Dan. I have a feeling we won't be seeing much sun for a little while.
tfolz - I can always make a trek down to SoCal; a few more weeks of this rain ought to do it.
Karl - Thanks Karl. I didn't realize those looked so bad on the PC monitor, lost a bit from the Mac translation plus I think I screwed up on the EV comp. I'll see if I can adjust them some.
Garen - Thank you Garen. I think I have a few more SEO's from last season.
Ed - Thanks Ed, but we may be in for quite a wait. Hopefully there'll be a couple windows here and there. Looking forward to hooking up with you guys again.
TimK - Thanks Tim. We found him right outside the Rexville Grocery hanging out with a bunch of sparrows. He probably had been taking a nap.
Sure enough; we need to do it more often.
Hey, Jay--Good work in tough light. Just having gotten my first shots of the Towhee this fall, it's neat to see a great shot of one up close and personal. Wicked-cool eyes! Beautiful tat. ....Mitch
Sounds like you guys had fun regardless of the light JayT! You did get close to the Towhee. Love your SEO from last season and looking forward to seeing some more in better light!
Martin
