p.1 #1 · Which imac for PSCS3 & Lightroom

I am looking to buy a 27" imac but am not sure which model to go for.
Either a faster processor or more RAM?
(1) i5 2.66ghz upgrading the RAM to 8gb
(2) i7 2.8ghz and leave RAM @ 4gb
which model would run PSCS3 & Lightroom the fastest?
Thanks

Just FYI, I have an iMac that is several years old (2.0ghz/2gb RAM) and it runs LR 2.5 and PS3 (plus Nik and Topaz plugins) just fine. YOu should have no problem unless you have enormous files.

Processor, Ram is much easier to upgrade later (and way cheaper from places other than Apple). The benchmarks I've seen put the i7 at a healthy lead over the i5 and for a very small and worthwhile amount of money.

As a rule....all things being equal......go for the best processor as that will be the thing that, ultimately, determines how long a life your computer has.

I'm still using a G4 single processor that I bought new six years back......I'm just about thinking I need to upgrade!

There may be issues with PSCS3 - Adobe doesn't officially support PSCS3 on OSX 10.6. I've seen god and bad reports with the combination - YMMV.
