If you wanted to carry tall light stands (13'), you'd definitely need a Dual Kit Case.

I've searched high and low for that bag elsewhere. If you search the model you will find some other branded bags that are similar, but more expensive and without all the exterior pockets (B&H or Adorama - can't remember which - has an Impact branded HDC-999 but it is not exactly the same).

Let us know if you find anything.

There can be no doubt that Kata makes some excellent bags! Their Palms-1 and Palms-2 bags would be excellent choices for safely carrying a lighting setup. But my search was for a lighting bag/case that suited my needs without breaking the bank. To fit my 34" (collapsed) light stands into a Kata case, I'd have to get the Palms-2. That would be $480 at B&H vs. the $139 I paid for the Photoflex Transpac Single Kit Case.

<still needs to take a pic of my dual transpac case. haha

but i can add to marks comment on the wheels. with the dual case fully loaded, it rolls so smooth on cobblestone, sidewalks, over bumps etc. very well designed.

Just finished repacking my accessory case after a trip to Mexico, that's how you should pack your speed rings and reflectors.

And this is the most padding my stands will ever see.

B&H has this bag on sale for just under $200. It's quite a markdown and the other bags from this manufacturer are considerably more (not on sale) so I figured I'd give it a shot. I like the piggyback arrangement for a stand bag (I use an army cot bag as my stand/umbrella bag and it looks like it will work perfectly.

We'll see but I think it fills the bill.

Ahhh fair enough.
I got the Palms-2 at an unbelievable price and it's awesome. The "no zipper" design makes it so easy to open it up.

I had the Photoflex Transpack case, but I got rid of it because:

1. It was too heavy when packed with gear, and like another person said, because of the location of the handle a lot of the weight is on your hand, not the wheels.

2. Because it is narrow and tall, anything that causes it to tip a little, like a curb, step, bump, etc. will make it tip over while you're rolling it. It became too much of a pain. If you're going to get a wheeled case get a WIDE one for stability!

Did you come up with a case that did work?

I second Mark's comments about the bags. I bought the single and dual case. Together they fit a small studio with 4 monolights, 4 flashes, 2 small stands, 3 medium stands, 1 large stand, 3 softboxes, 3 umbrellas, 2 long cords, 2 extension hubs, 1 small boom arm and grip, 2 collapsible reflectors, 2 8.25" reflectors plus 4 grids, 1 snoot plus grid. and many other various items including gels.

I've been using this (with moveable dividers), but it isn't a rolling case:

I use a separate wheeled cart to roll it if I have to take it a long distance. Otherwise I just carry it. It's still not perfect, but for now it suits my needs. The weight listed on the specs page is inncorrect though...it doesn't weigh 10 pounds! They also make a smaller case (3 pounds) that's perfect for strobist use with the 19" collapsed bogen stands. That case is 23" long.

I have a 12" by 4' give or take. the C-Stand fit fine but the boom arms cause the top to extend a couple of inches from the min position but well within the adjustment lip of the case. I have my case packed with light stands and grip stuff at this time. I bought my tuffpak used off ebay. I have a custom search that I ran periodically and finally won and auction.
