I have a Wacom bamboo tablet and find it alot easier to make selections in Photoshop than using the mouse. The only problem I have is with the brush width. When I have a specific width brush selected and use the tablet, I get a stroke based on the pen tip/pressure instead of the brush width.

When I reach over and grab the mouse, I get a full width stroke.

Is there any way to change this so the pen matches the mouse?

Turn off "Shape Dynamics" in the tool preference in Photoshop.

As above. Also, the brush will only get as large as the current set brush size when the size related to pressure sensitivity is turned on.
