p.1 #1 · One Tired Bee

A sleeping solitary bee that I shot earlier this year.

Tech specs: Canon 40D (F13, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MPE-65mm macro lens (@3.5x) + a diffused MT-24EX.

Interesting image, the extreme closeness & strong diagonal lines give it quite an abstract flavour.

I remember this one(or one very similar), John, because I remember thinking of how far I have yet to go. Gorgeous shot all over again.

Nice images, I really like the first one!

I'm going to go OT here for a second sorry....
Due to our recent discussion about topaz Detail and adjust, I pulled up your first image for a second to play with Adjust. Upon opening it in photoshop it immediately looks sharper. I realize that is also because it is smaller. I'd noticed similar things in the past and never realized till know what the deal is: images uploaded to FM seem to get enlarged a little. I can do a real life measurement and some quick math based on my screen resolution to confirm this. The image displays at 10" wide in photoshop (18.875"(monitor width) / 1920px (my resolution) * 1024 = 10.06") which it should but at 11.15" using Firefox 3.0.15. Your exif does say the image should be 1024 wide.

Again, sorry for the OT but I figure our perception of image quality is based on seeing it at the correct size so this was not completely inappropriate.

Thanks Dennis

I don't think that you're too far OT -we take all kinds of twists and turns around here and I learn a lot of new things on the way
