Ok my Tamrac bag has fallen to pieces in two years, so I'm after a new one.
I would like a bag that can carry my 300mm 2.8, D3, D300s, 14-24mm, TC's, and perhaps my short sigma 70-200mm. I'm trying to reduce the amount of stuff I'm carrying.
So a strong light bag would be ideal.
I'm a fan of the belt packs, such as LowePro Offtrail. These keep the weight off my back, make my center of gravity lower. That's a benefit when I'm hiking off camber mountain trails. Unlike a backpack, I don't have to take a belt pack off and set it down in the mud. WIth beltpacks I simply add or subtract pouches to accomdate the gear I'm taking for the day. Very light, very convenient, easy to hike all day with in broken country.
I have bought so many bags but I still revert to the Domke bags. HPRC hard cases for the win! I bought a 2550W last year for a shoot I had to fly to and I can get almost as much into it as my spacious 2600. Love these things!
Ooops sorry, guess I'm getting carried away, I think we are talking soft bags.
I do like the Crumpler I just found the 7mil odd in size, it can carry lots of stuff but felt heavy as I ended feeling obliged to over fill it. Not to mention ended up stacking which wasn't great for what I needed. I also like the Domke Iguana but I don't think you can get those anymore and it's a backpack style bag but can be carried more ways although largish.
Many many good bags, need to go try them out to suite personal preference or you end up buying too many. I have a huge Dakine split roller full of camera bags and soft cases (for belt systems) ... bags within bags.
Give the Domke a look, I have two in the black nylon.
Use Crumpler backpacks and shoulder bags for general shooting but have my eye on the f-stop range - http://fstopgear.com/en/mountain/tilopa for an upcoming travel/treking shoot.
