Very nice and "emotional" pictures... :-) For some reason (?) I find the third picture just brilliant!
Wish I had the money to get a toycam... :-/ There's some nice M-mount lenses just littering my father's shelves.

I'd say that the 20/1.7 shots look better.
A sample size of 1 40/1.4 image and comparing it to a lens with 1/2 the focal length isn't going to tell you anything about the lens. Yes, the 40/1.4 shot doesn't look as good as the others, but that's mainly due to composition and lighting.

I handled the GF1 today at a Photo Fair here in Stockholm.
It is small, and handles well. Very tempting as a side kick.
The one I tried out was burgundy red - I could almost get away with buying it if I try to make it look like I was getting it for my GF #1.

Yeah, believe me - you're tempting the relationship gods with this one. My wife and I are already sort of clashing over who gets to have the camera. Really hoping Panasonic does a more entry-level version so she can have one with her all the time so I don't get the stink eye coming back from an outing when she clearly missed a shot because I had the camera.

My GF's already called dibs on the G1/14-45. Of course she was sorta expecting me to abide by my usual 5-6 month cycle on digital (the G1 breaks my all-time record for the longest owned non-P&S digital as of monday at 11 months + 1 day).

Humble apologies in advance for my ignorance but what is unconventional in these shots?
They're unconventional in relation to the typical handling of shots that represent "Fall". Often this time of year you get a lot of shots of flaming red trees, leaves on the ground, mountains alight with beautiful colors, etc.
