I threw this shot together rather quickly so I could have something to enter into the WA. It isn't something that I would normally do but I was hoping some people could still give me some critiques on the shot.
I like the blue monochrome, although a plain glass might have been a stronger design element. The grid pattern angled was an appealing choice. Personally, I'd suggest fixing the surface scratches in the reflection highlight. You did better with the topic than I did. I couldn't come up with anything I liked that wasn't hopelessly cliché.
Thanks auntie for at least commenting...I don't seem to get many replies...sadly I think it has more to do with my low post count than horrible photos, or at least I hope so!
Comment activity varies for all sorts of reasons. It may be down now because some recent conflicts on the forum reminds us we've other fun things we could be doing. It also depends upon how much time people have to spare for the forum. Sometime I have much to say about an image. Sometimes I'm uncertain what I can add to critique an image. Believe it or not, sometimes I'm actually not in a mood to babble on. (I know, hard to believe!) Sometimes I'd rather go take photos, read a book, watch a video, browse the net, or pet the cat. I presume most folks feel the same. Maybe the regulars are partying, out for a holiday or in a state of depression, fighting with a spouse, or doing taxes. No way to know.
An internet forum isn't time-bound in the same way a conversation over a kitchen table is time bound. For example, I live in New Zealand. When folks in the US at at work, I'm usually asleep. Because it's all fairly random activity, there can be flurries of posts and periods when little is posted. Don't take silence as rebuke or being ignored. If a critique seems to me to be a larger or more difficult one, I'll often postpone my reply until I can study an image and organize my thoughts. BTW, it's also sometimes easier to reply to regulars because we have an idea what they want. I can be more specific, for example, if I understand someone's experience and comfort with the terms and techniques. And, in the end, we're all just human and subject to the unpredictability of human foibles, good, bad and indifferent. At least we mean well.
Auntie, you make some very valid points. Makes me feel better as I hadn't really thought about a lot of that. Thanks for taking the time to post once let alone twice!
