Nerd Alert!! Technical term is excuviae. The exoskeleton that is shed after the larvae emerge and morph into adults.

Thanks Yakim, I tried many different versions of this and settled on this one. I was going to do a bottle with the very last drop coming out but someone had already done that

. Very nice by the way.

I think this is a very cool shot. I love the composition and the uniqueness of the image. I've never seen cicada shells like that!
