p.1 #1 · Nikon AF DC Nikkor 135mm f/2.0D Focusing Speed on D90

Will the 135mm lens focus slower on the D90 compared to a D300 or D700. WIll it be able to focus fast enough to do indoor sports on my D-90?
Thanks in advance.

Yes it will focus slower. I can't stand using the 85 1.8D on my D80 now that I have the D700. Can't say whether the D90 is any better.

The knock on the 135 f2 DC is the slow focus as a result of a "screw" focus drive

I don't know what that means, but the 135 f2 norm, may not have that type of focus drive.

My nickel says the D90 motor is smaller than the D700 (I have both) and may be slower because of that. I haven't tried my 135 DC on the 90. It's snappy on the D700 but that doesn't help you. I have more trouble with AF hunting because of low contrast conditions (like a surfer in fog)

I think there is only one AF 135 f2 and that is the 135 f2 DC. I do not know of any 135 f2 normal. Someone let me know if I am mistaken.

Well, the D90 will be slower yes. If you had a D300/700 it would be faster, and on a D1/D2/D3 series body it will be the fastest.

um stop worry about focus speed check out the focus accuracy first since it is critical to have focus dead on at f2 then it is sharp otherwise many people complain about back or front focus. with my d3 it is wow, with my d2h it is front focus very annoying. tracking no problem for sport it is fast enough
