Now I know this is not a video forum but have seen many people asking about the 300s video feature. I am not a videographer (as you will see) but feel that this is a decent showing of what the camera can do. The footage is straight out of the camera. More details can be found on my blog.
I tried embedding the video but it didn't work. If someone can tell me how that would be great, until then here is My blog" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">The Video
Good work... It's nice to see people using the D300s with cinematography techniques in mind (i.e. NO WHIP-PANNING! GOOD SUPPORT!). Within its limitations the D5000/90/300S D-Movie function can deliver high quality video.
I agree that if you have a good support system the jiggle becomes a lot less apparent. I will do my best to make some more clips with more action now that I am getting the hang out making movie images!
Nice, thanks! I'm very curious to know about the settings. It seems you had the camera on full auto? (the exposure changed while filming). In the first section, was the camera completey in the car? I edited this because I just checked out your blog. The Sigma 10-20 was used for the whole shoot? Thanks for sharing!!
The camera was on aperture priority but I don't think it makes a difference. I can't figure out how to change the aperture while in video mode.
The camera was inside the car for everything except the shot from the front of the truck and then it was mounted to my hood. The camera was mounted to my rollcage for the rearview shot. The video was entirely shot with the 10-20. I have many ideas for shots but nobody is around to fill the roles I need!
