Here are a few more images from the stunning sunset of October 10. They were taken at the West Pond of Jamaica Bay Wildlife Sanctuary here in New York City. All were taken looking north. You have already seen views looking west with the stunning orange and red sky. These pastels are a nice change of pace for a sunset.

Comments and suggestions welcome,

Morris

Beautiful scenery Morris made more beautiful by the lovely sunset sky.
I really enjoyed your previous post with the silhouettes that worked so well against that awesome colorfully banded sky.
Unfortunately your #2 here is not working as well for me... I think it's just too much motion blur and the whole bird is too OOF.
Thanks for sharing these images and your techniques for capturing them... I am going to give it a try.

I don't think #2 is right at all you need to change something, out of focus, color nice but? GeorgeW

Thank you Kirk,

I want to see how people respond to #2. I’m aware that many people don’t enjoy extreme blur. I appreciate your letting me know how you feel. I look forward to your experiments.

Hi Morris, I do like 1, 2 is a little to much blur for me but I can see how one would like it. I do like 3 but maybe without the waterfowl. That is fine sunset you documented, it must have been amazing to witness.

Wonderful lighting and colors on all 3, Morris, but #3 appeals to me the most.

It was amazing out there though I was incredibly busy taking photos and the time pasted very quickly.

Beautiful colors in these, Morris. I like the first image best. I looked at the second image with my heart, but I didn't feel anything. Sorry.

Hi Morris...
I find numbers one and three to be pleasant but uninspiring and rather common. Number two is inspiring and is uncommon. Photography often works best when creative limits are explored a bit... when rigid rules are broken. Number two does this. It works. I like it.
Best wishes,
Richard
