p.1 #1 · Fall in the Elwha

A pair of images from two days ago. The leaves are dropping fast here, but as luck would have it, the cottonwoods are in full color. Thanks to bktools for his scouting report/picture from that morning.

Beautiful coppery golds and yellows positively glowing against the sombre conifers and ferns , Tim. Looks like you were just in time and a good dose of wind ,that PNW autumn rarity , will see them off .

PS : When I first saw the title , I thought something had gone wrong with the river . Silly me .

I really prefer the lack of clutter in the second shot - simplicity wins for me.

Yes, the isolated tall tree gets my vote to in the 2nd image. Well seen and captured, Tim.

Tim

Very nice, lucky you caught them while you did with this wind the leaves are probably all history, really like the contrasting yellows in both. #1 is awesome digging how the cottonwood contrast so nicely against the background. Great catches here Tim

A nice couple of shots, Tim.

I'm with some others. #2 is the one for me. Great comp and light.

Hi Tim,

Fine Elwha Autumn series, vivid colors and like being there. Heavy rain there today.

I love seeing these big and I can't pick a favorite. They are both beautiful. I love the rich colors and textures.

Hi, Tim. Really liking the second. The comp and misty mood of the mountain top complement the yellow glow of the foliage very nicely.

Cheers,
Ed

Definitely a fan of the comp/colors in that second shot Tim - nice scenery to have nearby with the almost misty clouds lingering near the ridge lines.

Hey Tim,

Nice work here. I really like that first one. What a cool contrast between the fall colors of the trees, and the green of the ferns. Very sweet!

Lovely pair, Tim. Really like how the tree stands out from the mist shrouded hill in the 2nd. Fine work.
