p.1 #1 · A Bug

These pix don't show it but three days running I found this creature on the same fresh stem, different feeding position. It's a wonder it hadn't been disturbed by anything.

I wonder what the hole in the side is for, breathing? And the row of holes above on #3 and to the rear.

Pretty sure it's a seed bug of some species, Mark. Could be leptoglossus, but the rear legs are not the same. Wonderful shots at any rate.

Nice close ups! If you were in the UK I'd think squash bug, but I've no idea of your native hemiptera...

Thanks for comments and info guys. Focus looks a bit sift to me, maybe just one of those surfaces.

The bug was in the same spot again today, after torrential rain last night, just further up the stem.

Great photos, Mark. Getting this close is a really cool perspective that we usually don't see. How else would you have ever noticed tiny things like that hole? I find super-macro photos very interesting.

Hi Mark,
I don't know how far up the coast you are from?, but that bug looks humungous to me. . . . downright tropical?
Great pics buddy
Bruce...

Thanks Bruce, sub - tropical - Brisbane. Yes it was big, about 3/4 inch body length.
