p.1 #1 · Dune and Sea Oats

Hi,

In case you were wondering what I was up to in a couple of the images in Hugh's last post well, here it is. I made this image using Velvia 100F with a polarizer. However, I was really upset when the conversion to sRGB for web posting changed the gorgeous blues in the sky to a matte yuck, so I converted it to B&W.

Thanks for looking.

Best,

Jose

Talk about detail!! Tons of it.
I would love to see the blues as well, I can imagine they look stunning. BW is a good choice though.
Just out of interest - do you develop your films yourself?

Hi Jose', I like this a lot. Beautiful contrasts. Just a bit of touch up, and it could go in the limited edition portfolio

Thanks Ute! The Blues are stunning, and I was able to scan them in pretty much unharmed. They lost so much in the conversion to sRGB when I reduced the image for the web though. I was very disappointed!

I use a local pro lab for my film development - Zebra Color Lab. I'm very lucky it is only 10-minutes away. They are not only super people technically, but we have become good friends. In by 1:00pm out by 4:00pm same day for E6 - 24 hours for B&W!! They will process up to 8x10s.

Thanks again!

Jose

You've got some awesome textures here. Like the BW, but I also imagine it with the blues. Must be gorgeous.

Way cool, Jose. Love the stark contrast of the sky against the sand. The sea oats along the ridge remind me of the furry hair that rises on the back of an elephant.

Cheers,
Ed

The textures in the sand are very nice, but without clouds or something else, the sky is too stark.

Glad to see your happy with your lab, but with all the beautiful images you pull off I hope you find a way to go bigger than 8X10. Your stuff should be printed bigger IMO. Love your stuff, keep posting. Rick

Superb shot, Jose. Your photographic evolution is simply awesome. I really LOVE your work. More and more interesting every day.
Composition, minimalism (no sé si se dice así "minimalismo, en Inglés), delicate but defined textures...
Great, really great job, my friend.

Best,

Javier

Hey Jose,

I don't know what the color version looks like, but after looking at this B&W conversion, I would say you have to toss it away! Wow, this B&W is a real stunner. Just incredible work here!

Amazing contrasts in textures and shades here - BW was a perfect call for this one and I like it a lot.

You local lab will do an 8x10 print? Isn't that just barely past a contact proof for your format?

Thanks again All!

Alan, sorry for the misunderstanding. When I said 8x10 I was referring to processing film, not prints . They can print to 44-inches wide.

Best,

Jose
