p.2 #1 · Road To Fort Pickens......

Hi hugh,

Interesting series and I really like the first more abstract image, very well composed, creative.

Fine series here, Hugh. I hiked into the fort a few times while the road was closed from hurricane damage but for some reason have not been out there much after the road opened. Good job making the most of your opportunities there.

Hugh

Very cool, definitely not your regular style but I like them all portray a very fresh clean feeling. #1 is my pick here that is gorgeous looking sand and the greenery real contrast very nicely.

Not your usual style , Hugh , but very successful nonetheless . By a very curious coincidence I recently photographed a very similar scene on the island of Berneray , North Uist in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland ! The sand was not quite so white , but otherwise identical with marram grass , wind-swirls and doggy(?) footprints . How strange is that ?

Hello Adrian, thanks for commenting. Not so strange, great minds and all that It's just hard to pass up some ideas. Glad you enjoyed this one too.

Nicely done, Hugh. I like the first the best and I like the footprints in the corner. Very nice.

Sharon

Thanks Sharon, the footprints seemed to kind of match the 'leaf-prints' Anyway, they felt right. Glad you enjoyed the result.

Nicely done Hugh. Quite a departure from the pastels in your dawn shots.

Nice set that you've posted. I really like number 2--foreground and human element seems to work well together.

Hugh, I love the "weed prints" of the first, but fine the "foot prints" distracting.
Nice series...

Hello Zeph, thanks for commenting and for the feedback. I considered removing them, and did remove some less well defined, but these seemed to 'belong' If I decide to print it, I'll take another look. Glad you enjoyed the images otherwise

Hugh,

Nice images. I like the first one the best. Almost has a minimalistic feel to it. Definetly a departure from your wharf shots. - Paul

I really like the wind marks made by the grass in these Hugh, and the bright white sand. I'd lose the vignetting in #2.

Hey Hugh,
Delightful, and different set from you. Really like the 1st, though I'm un-decided about the footprints. I like the comp in the 2nd very much, but I wish the sky wasn't so dark and vignetted. Just a personal thing, prolly.

Barry

Hello Barry, thanks for the feedback. I may have allowed the sky to get a bit dark to enhance the contrast with the sand I'll take another look at it if I decide to print. Glad you mostly enjoyed the images otherwise

hugh, what happened to the reds and pinks? #1 is for me, and i'd probably remove the footprints.

Thanks Binh, it's not really my fault, I was shooting with Jose' who likes that high contrast mid-day light . But, stay tuned, there will be some early/late images to follow

What beautiful sand, Hugh. And, like Binh, I missed the pinks and blues.

I really like the first shot. Very interesting brush strokes in the sand, courtesy of mother nature. Terrific detail on this shot. I also agree with Binh on cloning out the footprints.

Cheers,
Ed

Hello Ed, thanks for commenting and for the feedback. Glad you enjoyed these, and, not to worry, pinks and blues to follow

Well seen and captured Hugh. I love the swirls that the grass creates.
David

Hello David, thanks for commenting. I was glad to have a camera that produces usable images at ISO 1600 to get a fast enough SS to 'stop' the grass in the 15, or so, knot wind. Glad you enjoyed the result too

I like these. 1 is a beautiful intimate study. The footprints and lines in the sand are great. The sand looks like snow in the other two images!
Ute

Hi Ute, thanks for commenting. The 'sugar white' sand is a trademark of the "Red-neck Riviera" . Glad you enjoyed the images.

Very nice work! You were luckier than I am Hugh. Whenever I had a chance to go there, the road was closed due to massive drifting sugar white sands. There are beautiful shots to be had if you turn around on the same road and head east past Pensacola.

Thanks for commenting. We came from the east, and are going back (to Apalachicola) in a couple of weeks. That's a beautiful coastline indeed. Glad you enjoyed the images, and better luck next time with the photo-ops.

Great daylight images and not your usual fare, which speaks volumes. I'm torn between the 2nd and 3rd. The third for the great blacktop and the second for the super comp. I think it's the 2nd for me. And feel free to clone me out!

Best,

Jose

Hello Jose', thanks for the feedback. I think you add a sense of perspective that work in both images. Glad you enjoyed the day, again .

Good set. #2 really grabs my attention. Personally I'd get rid of the corner vignettes and also your Bud. This has a lot going for it in comp, color and design.

Wayne.

Hello Bob, thanks for the kind compliments. When confronted with a new/unknown area, I find it helpful to start with a close, detailed look and expand from there. Glad you enjoyed the 'starter' image .
