Amazing, a photographic accessory that makes the user look even more of a wanker than the fong.

There might be a better option called the cotton carrier. Check it out here http://www.cottoncarrier.com/index.html

I have tried the cotton carrier and it has a fatal flaw as well does the spider holster. We take for granted that with straps we can maneuver the camera around our body to the front or back for weaving in and out of tight places such a wedding.

The cotton carrier works as advertised but you cannot move around in tight places with 2 cameras. The spider would be perfect if you could easily slide the entire holster from the front of your body to back, etc. Another downside to either system as well as the R-strap is you have single point of failure. With a simple strap you have two, if one side of the strap breaks, chances are you can catch it before it hits the ground.

I run a home made double strap system similar to R strap occasionally. I don't have full confidence in the tripod connector. It panics me.

To solve this I have sewn in a small dyneema line which loops onto the strap fixing on the camera. It can occasionally get in the way a tiny bit but imo worth it as I know that if the main holder lets go for whatever reason the backup will stop the camera hitting the deck.

Searching a forum for a particular topic is a good idea in theory, but most of the time you get so much irrelevant information that its practically worthless.

People are both knocking it and championing it - but has anyone actually used this yet?

I purchased the cotton carrier and it is great for keeping both of my cameras securely fastened to my body without all the extra movement. It looks like the camera would be allowed to swing in the photo above. Not good! Either way, to each his/her own.

I don't like the fact that these hoster system use nobs and stuff to lock the camera in place.

Then we get another thread that repeats the process.

at a local wedding tog meetup 2-3 weeks ago someone showed this off. Just didn't look that stable.. squat down and have it pop out by mistake? Maybe, maybe not, even if it does have a release switch. The guy who was using it swore by it (just putzing around), but had not used it at a wedding yet. And for the $$, black rapid is a better bargain with a proven field track record. One advantage to this is you can clip into your think tank belt, if you use a think tank belt. I do not.
