p.1 #1 · Two from the farm

Felt like spring out at the farm today! No idea what the species is of this dragonfly.

Tech specs: Canon 40D (F13, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MPE-65mm macro lens (@ 2x) + a diffused MT-24EX macro twin light.

One of the hazards of baiting honeybees is that sometimes the ladies aren't very graceful. This honeybee pretty much did a face plant into the bait and spent the better part of an hour cleaning up.

Tech specs: Canon 40D (F13, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MPE-65mm macro lens (@ 1x) + a diffused MT-24EX macro twin light. The sun was low and behind the subject and acted as a third light source -made exposing for the highlights a nightmare...

Thanks Phil

The light does look bright -the sun was giving the light meter in the camera a fit! If I had more time I would have switched to manual mode and taken a few test frames to dial in the flash power. Next time I might just set the flash to 1/32 power and deal with what I get.
